I spent a couple hours at the Iowa State Fair this year, primarily because my daughter was performing with her dance school at the Susan Knapp Amphitheater that afternoon. After experiencing burnout the past two years of covering almost every day of the fair, it was nice to walk the fairgrounds without deadlines or an itinerary.
