On Sunday, Aug. 3, I covered a Cup Series NASCAR auto racing event for the Associated Press at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. The venue has been around for a while, but hasn't hosted many NASCAR Cup Series events. The weather was perfect, the fans turned out and roared along with the engines of the cars of their favorite drivers. William Byron managed to make it to the finish line on practically fumes to win the Iowa Corn 350. Here are some of my favorite images of the day. It was nice to get an APTOPIX out of the set too.
